We opened in May 2023 with decades of combined experience across banking, insurance and investment — and a simple belief: good advice is built alongside people, not handed down to them. Working together with our clients, we're after the same things — owning a home, protecting a family, building real independence for retirement. Today that's more than 300 people across New Zealand.
We look after our clients over the long term — building up your wealth, managing your insurance requirements, and eventually building you up to being self-insured and financially independent for your retirement. We partner with local mortgage brokers to look after your home loan needs when you reach your savings goals for your first home, or when you're considering property investments.
In investing, beta is the measure of how something moves with the market — the volatility you take on in exchange for a return. It's the engine of growth rather than the price of it: strip beta out entirely and your money flatlines, sitting in a cash account that barely keeps pace with inflation. The work isn't avoiding volatility. It's carrying the right amount of it for the life you're building.
In climbing, beta means something else entirely: the knowledge climbers pass to each other about how to read a wall — where the holds are, which sequence works, where to rest before the crux. Angharad spent years on routes around New Zealand before founding Beta Financial Group. Beta isn't handed over once at the bottom of a pitch and forgotten. It's called up from the ground when someone stalls mid-route, and traded again at the top, where each climber works out the more efficient line they'd take next time.
We carry both meanings deliberately: to treat volatility as the thing that makes growth possible rather than something to be feared, and to keep sharing what we know — at the start, when you're stuck, and long after — so the route ahead is one you can climb yourself.
After a decade of management and adviser roles across the investment and insurance industry, Angharad left the corporate world to offer real, accessible advice to everyone who needs it.
Tracee spent thirty years at BNZ — running her own branch, coaching teams, and sitting across the desk from people making the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
She went on to spend four years at Custom Mortgages in Queenstown, moving from office manager to executive client director across compliance, adviser support and logistics. Home lending, insurance, investments, foreign exchange — she has worked with all of it, and completed Principles of Investment 1, 2 and 3 along the way. Thirty-six years on, that experience goes into looking after our clients day to day.
Outstanding professional service. Angharad is extremely knowledgeable, efficient and professional. What a pleasure to encounter such an excellent service.
